--- Received in mail.... author unknown.

Old is Gold...... The Hare and the Tortoise

The Hare and the Tortoise
by Aesop

A HARE one day ridiculed the short feet and slow pace of the Tortoise, who replied, laughing: "Though you be swift as the wind, I will beat you in a race."
The Hare, believing her assertion to be simply impossible, assented to the proposal; and they agreed that the Fox should choose the course and fix the goal.
On the day appointed for the race the two started together. The Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course. The Hare, lying down by the wayside, fell fast asleep. At last waking up, and moving as fast as he could, he saw the Tortoise had reached the goal, and was comfortably dozing after her fatigue.
Moral of the Fable: Slow but steady wins the race.

Helping Hand !!!....

This Saturday morning I was navigating myself through crowded road of Dadar. Road stretch from Kailash Lassi to Swaminarayan Temple is a really tortures one. There was a taxi trying to dash me and…. I jumped on to footpath. Butt.. I missed the step and was about to fall and suddenly some one just gave me hand. A Helping Hand. I got saved from incoming injury.

As I was recovering from the incidence I heard a small bang on the electric pole. Dhannnn…. A blind man had banged his head on to pole.

Instinctively, I went on to help him. As I touch his trembling hand, he said, ‘thank you, mala Kurlyla jayachya, mala station paryant sodata ka?? Kadhich vichartoy, pan sagale busy aahet’ (Thank you, I need to go to Kurla station, can you please show me the way to Dadar station? I am asking for help for long time now, but everyone seems to be in hurry).

Not that I was not in hurry, but I decided to show him the way. Passing by taxi's and making way through the crowd, we finally reached the steps leading to the station. This guy broke the long silence, and said, ‘dhanyawad bhau, dev tumhala pan yashacha rasta dakhavel’. (Thanks brother, God will guide you through the road of success).

The moment was so touchy, I almost felt like crying. Once again, my faith in humanity got restored. My drive to social service got the boost again. this happens to me again n again.... but in this routine somewhere I get lost in my own world. forgetting the pain in the society, forgetting that my society need me.

I realize it again,
Helping people.. is Helping ourselves...

Advantage Outing @ Durshet....

Misty mountains…. Well developed resort and friends to enjoy the moment with. What more do you want on a weekend that might be your last weekend fun for the year.

Corporate tournaments in September and my MBA exams coming up in October … this apparently was my last chance to cut loose on my routine and enjoy nature. The opportunity came my way in the form of ADVANTAGE outing at Durshet.

Located remotely but at beautiful site, this place is really cool for the people who want to be close to nature and enjoy the luxury of resort amenities. Highlight Point of the resort is its location. Only 15 min walk will take you to a natural waterfall…. 5min down the steps n you are standing next to Amba river.. some adventure activities like Valley crossing, kayaking, rafting and rappelling are also arranged here.

We reached this place at around 11.00am and then on was full on dhammal…

We went for jungle trail. Plantation there was admirable. Teak, Umber, Tuti, Suru many different types of trees are planed there. Waterfall there was just too good.. Splashes of water hitting hard on our head and back we enjoyed force of water for some time. By the time we came out of the waterfall.. everybody had turned red because of the hard hitting water.

While returning back to the resort we took some snaps.. and then was sportz time. All Maradona’s and Pele’s of Advantage got on the field for the soccer match. While we played soccer some preferred to play underarm cricket.

Some played handball… some relaxed and some just watched every one playing with pegs of their respective brands. After an hour of muddy soccer. And other activities at around 2.00 everyone was so very hungry… We rushed to the dining area and were welcomed with the flavors of delicious food. Food was nice(better that our canteen for sure).

Mitesh, Pranay, Zankhana, Vivek n many others displayed their skills in singing which followed by dance for a while. Some oldies, some goldies, some latest tunes and a small ragging session of freshers, we all had a gr8 time.

After this main course, for deserts was a adventures activity – Valley Crossing. Anticipating a deep valley n something really dangerous we followed lead of the professional person there. But it turns out to be a big fools session for us. A rope was tied to two trees some 100 meters away at slope and we had to cross this distance using the equipments provided. Although all equipments were in place it wasn’t adventures at all. Never the less some 20 of us tried our hands on the opportunity.

We visited the Amba river near by. Muddy water of river Amba took turns at decent water speed. It was to be at this place where we were supposed to do kayaking or rafting. But it was a bit risky at that point coz of heavy rains in the mountains and looking at the speed of water, it looked right decision.

How can a trip to a resort end with our swimming pool play and a dance?

After valley crossing, every one jumped into the swimming pool. Water polo and dance on the beats of some latest desi numbers in the artificial waterfall, seemed the perfect end of an eventful day. But this was not it.

..

Evening snacks followed by “dhol beats” and “dance masti".

Shadows starts to lengthen n we could see birds returning to their nests. After our last visit to Tikona fort, this was once again a sad moment, when I actually wanted to stay back, but had to return to Mumbai. Reenergized by the freshness of forest and greenery our souls returned to Mumbai. The place where we belong to.

After getting home, throwing wet shoe away, is the last thing I remember of the day. Next day I directly saw the sun on my head. Woke up post 12.00pm for the lunch with the memories of the yesterday .

Summertime Rocks - Smoke and Kailash Kher – Smoke) - Lyrics

Song: Summertime rocks
Album: Smoke Signals
Band: Smoke and Kailash Kher

"Har pal jaata hai zindagi se,
kyun naa jee lein khushi se , oh o oh..!!

Rishta hai mera bandagi se,
kehta hun har kisi se.e..ee.e, toh sunoh oo ooo...

Its summertime and rise,
Its summertime and rolls..

Kisne hai jaana kal kya hoga zindagani mein
Kya kya judega pal jo beeta is kahani mein eeee...

Dil ki sunta hoon, khush rehta hoon
Man hi man yeh kehta hoon, Toh sunoh oo ooo...

Its summertime and rise,
Its summertime and rolls

A morning dance, cause its the summertime
I’ll take my chance, cause the world is all mine
I need romance, on the sunny stroke
Its summertime and rocks
Its summertime and rolls

We got a good thing going, just take it from me,
Lets stretch this moment, to infinity,
Without any grand plans, without any goals….

(Be)Cause,
Its summertime, and rocks
Its summertime, and rolls

Kisko bataoon mere dil mein kya kya hota hain,
Mein jhoomo gaawoon gham se tho mera samjautha hain

(Be)Cause,
Its summertime, and rocks
Its summertime, and rolls

A morning dance, cause its the summertime
I’ll take my chance, cause the world is all mine
I need romance, on the sunny stroke
(Be)Cause,
Its summertime and rocks
Its summertime and rolls

Will you take a little trip through peasely pots and traffic lights that glow
An winters wonderland with sand instead of snow
This little playground is a doctor for my soul
(Be)Cause,
Its summertime and rocks
Its summertime and rolls

A morning dance, because its the summertime
I’ll take my chance, because the world is all mine
I need romance, on the sunny stroke

coz,
Its summertime and rocks
Its summertime and rolls

A morning dance, because it is the summertime
I’ll take my chance, because the world is all mine
I need romance, on the sunny stroke

Yeh joh lamhe pyar ke hain,
yehi zindagi hamari
Isme joh pyar miley bas,
ye nahi jayenge udake hooo ho oo...

Yeh joh lamhe pyar ke hain,
yehi zindagi hamari
Isme joh pyar miley bas,
ye nahi jayenge udake hooo ho oo...

Yeh joh lamhe pyar ke hain,
yehi zindagi hamari
Isme joh pyar miley bas,
ye nahi jayenge udake hooo ho oo...

Tikona Fort alias Vitandgad Trek

A mail popped up in every one’s mail box with the text reading,And all nature lovers popped up in their respective seats. This meant something was being planned. I quickly put the work aside and opened my mailbox. But ohhh where was the mail? it was directly moved to the “CGI Extra Curricular” folder.

First look at the mail, and it was clear it was a trek. Yeeeee, I had waited so long for this now. Since October 2008 this was going to be my first trek. How could I miss this chance? I hurriedly opened the excel to put my name in the list as fast as I can, but there were already few names before me.

Some hiccups here n there, some confirming, some dropping out due to various reasons, finally on the day of the trek 18th July2009, 23 of us boarded the bus to the beautiful and exciting nature visit.

Swati Pu(Swati Puranik renamed in this trek) took charge from Borivali and one by one till Panvel people joined in from Kandivali, Andheri, Powai, Mulund, Chembur, Vashi. Mulund joining people as always were late. It was decided that next time they are late, they will be penalized for the time. The bus journey was full of Antakshari. The “Bhesura Group” left their mark on the Antakshri session. Idli breaffat was served in the bus. Thanks to my mom and wife Bhagyashree. Our first halt was at Expressway Food Mall for tea/coffee.

Then after, was like ahhhh… journey through the streets of Khandala and Lonavla we were in clouds. Jiten and myself doing the navigator job, we finally reached the base village of the fort, “Tikona Peth”. All bags packed, rain-suits on we were all ready to start mission Tikona.

Path to the fort went through the village and then through muddy roads we started walking towards the fort. Local boy helped us with the path, which he claimed was short distance. I knew that, it was going to be tough for all the people with us. But though of going with his suggestion and we started our journey way up the hard path to the fort.

5 min walk and we were greeted with the hard wind with the speed of at least 30-40km/hr. Balancing our bags, clothing and belongings, we managed to cross the open space. Now was a difficult way ahead. A narrow stretch of land leading behind the bushes is the only thing we could see for as long as we can see. Tanmay and Swati Pawar took the lead to find path.

On our way, some places we had to cross the small drenches which were formed because of land slide, we had to climb rock patches that were all wet and slippery, climb some big steps. But Advantage Fantoosh were not going to return back. Helping each other, holding hands, pulling people up, pushing some heavy weight upwards, we reached the top of the fort in no time.

Reacing top first went into the Vitandeshwar Mahadev temple on the fort. And climbed some more to reach the top most point of the fort ‘BaleKilla’. Ahaaa what a view. Pawna lake spread across the Mawal Proviance. And Tung Fort standing out just next to the Pawna dam. Cool breeze and light showers made the feeling just too good to explain.
We had climbed for almost 1hr 30min now, everyone pulled out their tiffins, jitne’s mom had packed some Parathas for all of us. The hungry stomachs attacked the Dahi-Chatni and Paratha’s. Post lunch everyone pulled out their cameras and shooting session was on.

Fortunately we enjoyed so many different climate changes on the Fort. At one instant it was so cloudy and foggy that we could hardly see 20m distance. The next moment it was sunny and clouds cleared so fast, the next moment is started raining. Strong wind made splashes of rain on our tired faces. Instant refresher that it was, we enjoyed it for some time and started our way down.

This time we decided to take the other path to descend, which goes around the fort and is a long but comparatively safe route. Amit, one fellow from professional trekking group guided us down the fort. Midway we took a cup of tea. Taking photographs and walking through muddy, rice farms, slippery, muddy roads, we made it to our bus.
As we were behind the schedule, we had to skip Bedse caves. An we went straight to Kamath’s at Khandala. Everyone munched on to some snacks there and we started the return journey. Singing old light song we reached Panvel in no time. Jiten and Kalyan gang got off the bus here. Then one by one every one reached their home places and almost 11.00pm Swati Pu left the bus at Borivali station. By 11.30pm every one was safe in there homes and resting tired bodies, dreaming of next trek.
All in all, it is a simple trek to enjoy nature’s bounty. Indeed a beautiful place to be!
